Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations: Malaysia and China Unite Through Commemorative Stamps!

Historical Bonds Resurface!

As the golden milestone of half a century of friendship between Malaysia and China approaches, Pos Malaysia proudly unveils a special joint stamp collection in collaboration with China Post. This commemorative endeavor marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, tracing its origins back to the historic Joint Communiqué signed by Malaysia's second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein, and China's Premier Chou Enlai on 31 May 1974.

For centuries, Malaysia and China have woven a rich tapestry of cultural exchanges and people-to-people interactions. This intricate fabric of shared history has fostered deep-rooted connections between the two nations, laying the foundation for enduring friendship and mutual respect. In 2013, this relationship ascended to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), further solidifying bilateral ties and opening doors to enhanced collaboration and shared prosperity.

Symbolic Stamps: Bridging Nations!

The commemorative stamps featured in this exclusive collection serve as tangible symbols of unity and cooperation between Malaysia and China. Each stamp showcases an iconic tree from both nations: Malaysia's national tree, the Merbau, and China's renowned Greeting Pine. These botanical emblems not only represent the natural beauty of their respective countries but also embody the enduring strength and hospitality shared between Malaysia and China.

Merbau: Guardians of Sustainability!

The Merbau tree, emblematic of Malaysia's commitment to sustainable development, symbolizes the vital role of forest resources in driving industry and economic growth. With its resilient presence, the Merbau tree reflects Malaysia's dedication to responsible forest management, ensuring the preservation of its rich biological diversity for generations to come.

Greeting Pine: Cultural Significance!

Meanwhile, China's Greeting Pine, standing tall on Huangshan Mountain, holds deep cultural significance as a symbol of warmth and hospitality. Its sprawling branches, resembling an outstretched arm, epitomize China's tradition of welcoming visitors with open arms. As a cultural icon, the Greeting Pine embodies the spirit of Chinese hospitality, inviting all to experience the nation's rich heritage and vibrant culture.

Priced at RM39.50, this exclusive stamp set offers collectors and enthusiasts alike the opportunity to own a piece of history. Each set includes a stamp sheet featuring 20 x RM1.50 stamps showcasing the Merbau and the Greeting Pine, a First Day Cover with stamps and a special cancellation, and a commemorative folder. Available for purchase starting 31 May 2024 at all of Pos Malaysia’s Philatelic Bureaus and online, this limited-edition collection is a testament to the enduring bond between Malaysia and China.
