KUALA LUMPUR, 25 May 2024 – The ninth edition of the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards (Top ECM) 2024 has concluded with a grand ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the country’s booming e-commerce sector. This prestigious event celebrated the remarkable innovations and sales achievements of local e-commerce entrepreneurs, setting new records and showcasing the dynamic growth of the industry.

Record-Setting Sales and Participation

This year, the Top ECM Awards achieved an exceptional Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) of RM109,189,877.00, with a staggering 2,383,904 orders. A total of 516 merchants were shortlisted, up from 360 participants in 2023, representing a 43.3% increase. This surge highlights the event’s substantial economic impact on Malaysia’s e-commerce landscape. Participants were evaluated on sales performance, business potential, and marketing innovation by a panel of respected industry judges.

New Categories Highlighting Platform Excellence

This year's awards ceremony introduced the "Lazada and Shopline Special Category," recognizing merchants who have effectively utilized the Lazada and Shopline platforms to market and sell their products. This new category saw fierce competition, showcasing participants’ innovative spirit and operational excellence.

Dignitaries and Industry Leaders in Attendance

The ceremony was graced by Yang Berhormat Puan Hajah Fuziah Salleh, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and Yang Berhormat Najwan Halimi, Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) member for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship. Their insights into the growth and challenges of the digital economy underscored the national significance of e-commerce development and the government's support for digital entrepreneurship.

This year’s winners were honored not only with cash prizes but also with trophies and certificates, acknowledging their hard work and success. The event highlighted the crucial role of digital platforms in achieving business success and the importance of innovative marketing in reaching broad audiences.

Additionally, the event featured six specialized training sessions and industry visits to major e-commerce and digital marketing giants like Lazada, Alibaba, Securities Commission Malaysia, and Matrade. These sessions aimed to equip participants with the skills and tools necessary to excel in the competitive e-commerce environment.
