Addressing the Threat of Mosquito-Borne Diseases!
Mosquitoes are considered the deadliest creatures on the planet, causing one million deaths annually from mosquito-borne diseases. Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, faces significant challenges from these diseases, particularly dengue fever. The GUARD OUR FUTURE project aligns with KAO's environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) strategy, aiming to address these social issues while promoting business growth.
Rising Dengue Cases in Malaysia!
Malaysia has seen a significant rise in dengue cases, with 123,133 cases reported in 2023, an 86.3% increase from the previous year. The Selangor state has been particularly affected. To address this, KAO Malaysia will donate units of the Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum equivalent to the number of dengue cases reported in Selangor in 2023. This initiative is part of the GUARD OUR FUTURE project, which will roll out activities and campaigns to combat dengue fever.
Public Health Initiatives in Selangor!
The Selangor State Government, through its Public Health Committee, will implement a Dengue Prevention Program in collaboration with KAO Malaysia. This program will include educational workshops, community clean-up activities, and the distribution of Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum. Community Engagement and Education!
From June 2024 to December 2024, the GUARD OUR FUTURE project will engage with the Malaysian community through various initiatives. These include signing memorandums of agreement and understanding with the Selangor State Government and Takeda Malaysia, conducting awareness talks in schools, and organizing community clean-up sessions in dengue hotspots.
Advanced Mosquito Repellent Technology!
The Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum utilizes a unique technology that makes the skin repulsive to mosquitoes. Unlike conventional repellents that use ingredients like DEET, this serum provides a non-greasy, light texture similar to body lotion, offering up to 8 hours of protection. The product is available in two fragrances, Fresh Lavender and Sweet Blossom, and will be sold nationwide at major pharmacies and retailers for RM24.90 per 100g tube.
