DeStage @ Jaya One has teamed up with KAM Productions to launch the PJ Comedy Fest 2026, running from July 29 to August 2. Orchestrated by Festival Director and Malaysia's undisputed Queen of Comedy, Joanne Kam, this five-night entertainment powerhouse features 9 unique shows, 29 comedians, and 11 teen performers ready to shake up the local live entertainment scene.

A Multilingual Celebration of Local Voices

What makes this inaugural festival a true standout is its reflection of Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry. Breaking away from single-language lineups, the festival proudly showcases performances in English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. Whether you are looking for razor-sharp solo stand-up sets, fast-paced unscripted improv, or raw personal storytelling, the festival offers a brilliantly inclusive platform where diverse voices and bold humor take center stage.

Unscripted Chaos and Villain Origin Stories

If traditional stand-up isn't your only jam, the festival's specialized formats promise total unpredictable madness. On Friday night, the Pinball Monkeys troupe will take over the Studio for a night of lightning-fast, entirely unscripted improv comedy driven completely by crowd suggestions. Alternatively, you can catch Jasmine Rajah on Sunday afternoon for My Villain Origin Story, a unique storytelling talk show that blends hilarious personal confessions with comedic commentary from surprise guest performers.

Dual Stages for Maximum Entertainment

The festival takes full advantage of DeStage's prime spaces at Jaya One, operating two concurrent stages to maximize the fun. Over at The Studio (a cozy 100-pax space), audiences can enjoy up-close, intimate acts like Farid Azmeir’s bilingual solo show AZMEIR or Piravina Raghunathan’s landmark Tamil special Kanni Raasi. Meanwhile, The Main Hall (holding up to 480 people) will blast high-energy group shows, including the edgy Mandarin comedy Prone to Hell by BBK Network’s K-Shao, and the star-studded, crown-jewel Comedy Gala featuring heavyweights like Kavin Jay, Andrew Netto, and Mad Sabah.

While evening slots are strictly reserved for mature audiences (18+), Sunday daytime shifts the spotlight toward younger theater enthusiasts. EM Drama will present a vibrant, child-friendly teen play adaptation of Shakespeare's classic, A Midsummer Night's Dream, at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM in the Main Hall. Open to families and children aged 7 and above, it serves as the perfect, lighthearted finale to a weekend dedicated to the timeless art of making people smile.
