A Night of Appreciation and Celebration
In the spirit of Ramadan and Hari Raya, PETRONAS hosted its annual Majlis Berbuka Puasa & Pratonton Eksklusif Filem Web PETRONAS Bersama Media on March 25, 2025. This cherished tradition serves as a platform to strengthen relationships with the media, recognize their vital role in storytelling, and express gratitude for their unwavering support in sharing PETRONAS’ journey.
At the event, Siti Azlina A Latif, Senior General Manager of Strategic Communications, Group Strategic Relations & Communications, highlighted the importance of this annual gathering:
“Today’s event is more than just a gathering; it’s an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the enduring relationship we share with all of you. Your dedication to accurately portraying our efforts has played a pivotal role in our progress so far.”
Representatives from PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, PETRONAS Gas Berhad, and Gentari were also in attendance, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fostering collaboration across industries.
‘Who Could That Be?’ – A Raya Webfilm About Rediscovery & Connection
One of the highlights of the evening was the exclusive preview of PETRONAS’ Hari Raya webfilm, ‘Who Could That Be?’. This heartwarming short film captures the essence of family bonds, unexpected connections, and the beauty of Raya traditions.
The story follows Rafi, a young man returning home after studying abroad, who is sent on a Raya visit to a relative’s home. However, upon his arrival, he realizes that no one recognizes him—creating a moment of awkwardness and uncertainty. As the film unfolds, Rafi experiences the true meaning of 'balik kampung', witnessing firsthand the joy and warmth that family visits bring. What starts as a simple act of tradition turns into a deeper journey of reconnection, rediscovery, and unexpected surprises.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Negeri Sembilan, the webfilm highlights the state's rich heritage, authentic dialect, and breathtaking Minangkabau architecture, adding an extra layer of cultural authenticity to the story.
Spreading Festive Cheer: PETRONAS Gives Back
Beyond storytelling, PETRONAS remains committed to making a difference in the community. During the event, the company extended its Uplifting Lives Festive initiative through Yayasan PETRONAS, in partnership with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) Kuala Lumpur. This initiative aims to support 4,850 underprivileged families nationwide, providing them with essential food items and festive packs to celebrate Hari Raya with joy and dignity.
Showcasing Sustainability & Social Impact
Another highlight of the evening was the showcase of PETRONAS’ Social Impact Programme under 'Planting Tomorrow'. This initiative promotes sustainable waste management and the circular economy across Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kemaman. Four inspiring local entrepreneurs showcased their innovative eco-friendly products, including soap made from used cooking oil and upcycled items from plastic and textile waste. This initiative not only supports environmental sustainability but also empowers local communities through entrepreneurship.
Honoring Traditions, Strengthening Communities
PETRONAS’ annual iftar event beautifully encapsulates the spirit of Ramadan and Hari Raya—bringing people together, celebrating traditions, and giving back to the community. From premiering a touching webfilm to supporting underprivileged families and championing sustainability, PETRONAS continues to uphold its values of connection, gratitude, and progress.

As Siti Azlina summed it up:
“We not only celebrate the spirit of togetherness through our Hari Raya webfilm but also reaffirm our commitment to strengthening bonds within the community. From showcasing local entrepreneurs to spreading festive joy to underprivileged families, PETRONAS continues to honor traditions while building a more connected and compassionate society for all.”
With its compelling storytelling, meaningful initiatives, and dedication to sustainability, PETRONAS once again sets the stage for a Raya celebration that is both heartfelt and impactful.
