A Tech-Driven Lifeline for Underprivileged Students

In a powerful intersection of technology and social good, ATLAS Vending (the vending arm of Etika Sdn Bhd) has officially launched ATLAS Nutri Aid. Unveiled in conjunction with World Milk Day at the Goodday Milk Factory in Petaling Jaya, this innovative corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative is designed to combat nutritional inequalities among underprivileged primary school students. Developed in partnership with the Selangor State Education Department and Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS), the program is rolling out 10 smart vending machines across selected schools following a highly successful pilot phase.

Confronting Malaysia's "Hidden Hunger" Crisis

The launch comes at a critical time for public health in Malaysia. Recent data highlights a worrying trend: childhood stunting in Malaysia rose to 24% in 2024, surpassing neighboring countries like Indonesia and Cambodia. Furthermore, the SEANUTS II study reveals that over 70% of Malaysian children do not meet the recommended daily intake for Calcium and Vitamin D. With the rising cost of living pushing child hunger prevalence as high as 58.4% in certain low-income urban areas, ATLAS Nutri Aid steps in to bridge this gap by dispensing free Goodday Charge Milk—which is specifically formulated with 10 essential nutrients to support bone health and cognitive function.

“For many families, providing daily nutrition is not always guaranteed and that should never be a barrier to a child’s growth. By combining technology with purpose, we are able to deliver nutrition in a way that is consistent, dignified, and impactful.” — Hemalatha Ragavan, CEO of Etika & International Exports

The Clever Tech Behind the Tap

What sets ATLAS Nutri Aid apart from traditional food aid programs is its data-driven, automated approach. Leveraging proprietary smart vending tech, the initiative utilizes a seamless "tap-and-go" card system given to eligible students. To prevent distribution leakage and ensure maximum efficiency, the cards are strictly synchronized with the school calendar. This unique mechanism not only allows ATLAS Vending to monitor data and impact effectively but also gives children a dignified, independent way to access their daily nourishment without feeling singled out.

Fueling Dreams and Classroom Focus

By ensuring that essential dairy nourishment is reliably waiting for students every single school day, the initiative aims to boost both classroom concentration and school attendance. YRMS plays a pivotal role in funding and identifying the beneficiaries who need it most, ensuring the aid directly alleviates financial pressure on B40 families. Ultimately, ATLAS Nutri Aid is built on the fundamental belief that proper nutrition is the bedrock of education, ensuring Malaysia's future generation has the physical and mental energy required to thrive.
