The 3rd Kuala Lumpur Prosperity Walk, organized by the Network of Bukit Bintang Communities (NBBC) in collaboration with the BBKLCC Tourism Association, is set to invigorate the city center on February 24th, coinciding with the 2024 Chap Goh Mei celebrations. Established in 2022, this annual event celebrates the vibrant culture of 'the Greater Bukit Bintang' area, known for its Festivals, Art & Culture, Music & Dance, and more, contributing significantly to the city's social and economic vibrancy.
This year, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is taking a more prominent role by incorporating the Prosperity Walk into its official Chinese New Year activities. Announced during a recent press conference by Kuala Lumpur City Advisory Board Members, Mr. Lai Chen Heng and Ms. Carmen Leong, who are also patrons of the organizing committee, the event will span a 4.3-kilometer route through iconic landmarks of Bukit Bintang, taking a little over an hour to complete.
Starting at Dataran Merdeka, the walk will traverse through Pasar Seni, the River of Life, GMBB Community Mall, Federal Hotel, Lot 10, Plaza Low Yat, Sungei Wang Plaza, Berjaya Times Square, and conclude at Lalaport. Along this route, participants will enjoy dragon and lion dances, colorful costumes, and musical performances, highlighting the city's dynamic essence. For those seeking a shorter route, a 1.4-kilometer option starting at Pavilion KL and passing Starhill, Fahrenheit 88, and Lot 10 is available, merging with the main route at Menara Hai O on Jalan Bukit Bintang.
Mr. Jack Lim, Organising Chairman of NBBC, expressed gratitude for the support from local authorities and NGOs, emphasizing the event's focus on economic development, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability. To quote him, the purpose of this event is the encourage tourists to stay an extra night to witness the extraordinary sights of the Prosperity Walk Parade. Mr. Ng Yih Chen, Chairman of BBKLCC Tourism Association, highlighted the event's broader significance in celebrating local communities' contributions to Kuala Lumpur's social fabric.
The success of the Prosperity Walk is made possible through partnerships with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), MPP Bukit Bintang, Rukun Tetangga – KRT, BBKLCC, Pasar Seni, GMBB, Berjaya Times Square, Lalaport, Urban Museum (UR-MU), TS Law Land, and sponsors such as Sime Darby Motors.
