Bridging Tradition and Education at Level 58

On May 5, 2026, a new chapter for cultural advocacy began as Miss Borneo International 2026, organized by Diamond Crown Agency, signed a formal partnership with Taylor’s University. The ceremony took place at the prestigious TRX Exchange 106 in Kuala Lumpur. This collaboration is designed to move beyond traditional pageantry by integrating education and design to promote Borneo’s—specifically Sarawak’s—heritage to a global audience.

Fashioning a Cultural Legacy

A key highlight of this partnership involves the Fashion Design Faculty at Taylor’s University. Students will be tasked with designing and producing five exclusive Borneo-inspired traditional costumes. These pieces are not just for show; after being debuted at the Grand Final on June 11, 2026, the costumes will be donated to various museums across Malaysia, including those in Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Sabah, and Sarawak, ensuring their preservation as educational artifacts.

Beyond the Kebaya: Showcasing Sarawak’s Diversity

While Malaysia is often internationally associated with Nyonya and Kebaya culture, this initiative aims to highlight the often-overlooked richness of East Malaysia. Sarawak alone boasts over 27 indigenous ethnic groups, each with distinct traditions and attire. Miss Borneo International serves as the vehicle to bring these diverse cultural identities to the forefront through:

  • Traditional Costumes: Showcasing authentic and student-designed Borneo wear.

  • Cultural Performances: Featuring traditional dances that represent the heartbeat of the region.

  • Storytelling: Using the platform to narrate the heritage and history of Borneo's people.

A Global Platform for Local Heritage

Diamond Crown Agency founded this pageant to elevate Borneo’s heritage through the lens of fashion and pageantry. By presenting Malaysia as a nation of vibrant, multi-faceted identities, the organizers hope to foster a deeper global appreciation for the island’s unique history.
