In her opening speech, YB Yeo Bee Yin highlighted the surging demand for F&B services as Malaysia emerges from the pandemic, resulting in an increase in new restaurants, cafes, and innovations in the dining sector.
“Many F&B businesses are upgrading their equipment to improve efficiency and quality, which has driven rapid growth in the commercial kitchen equipment market since 2022,” she noted.
With 136,453 operational food outlets in 2022, generating RM99 billion in revenue, the F&B sector remains a pillar of the Malaysian economy. YB Yeo also revealed that 1.07 million Malaysians are employed within this industry, with 871,155 involved in the food sector, followed by mobile food services (110,593) and beverage services (98,095).
