The launch was graced by YB Yeo Bee Yin, Member of Parliament for Puchong, and attracted a dynamic mix of entrepreneurs, professionals, and food enthusiasts eager to explore the latest trends and solutions in the industry.

Post-Pandemic Growth in the F&B Industry Fuels Demand

In her opening speech, YB Yeo Bee Yin highlighted the surging demand for F&B services as Malaysia emerges from the pandemic, resulting in an increase in new restaurants, cafes, and innovations in the dining sector.

“Many F&B businesses are upgrading their equipment to improve efficiency and quality, which has driven rapid growth in the commercial kitchen equipment market since 2022,” she noted.

With 136,453 operational food outlets in 2022, generating RM99 billion in revenue, the F&B sector remains a pillar of the Malaysian economy. YB Yeo also revealed that 1.07 million Malaysians are employed within this industry, with 871,155 involved in the food sector, followed by mobile food services (110,593) and beverage services (98,095).

The EXPO Taste & Trade 360 offers entrepreneurs a one-stop platform that streamlines the procurement of kitchen equipment, raw materials, design consulting, and certifications. YB Yeo emphasized that the event eliminates the need for attending multiple exhibitions or consulting different suppliers, making it easier for businesses to grow efficiently.

Workshops and expert-led lectures provide additional value by offering attendees insights into market trends, operational strategies, and cutting-edge innovations.

Innovative Technologies and Sustainable Solutions on Display

The exhibition also features sustainable technologies, such as the X-mile electric vehicle charging station, underscoring the event’s role as a platform for innovation in the F&B sector. These advancements reflect a growing trend towards sustainability and efficiency, critical components for modern businesses.

Promoting Local Food Culture through the National Cuisine Movement

A key highlight of the exhibition is the launch of the "National Cuisine Movement," a campaign to promote local culinary heritage and support innovation among new entrants in the food industry. This initiative includes:

  • Television programs and masterclass events

  • Competitions to encourage culinary excellence

  • Publications to preserve Malaysia’s traditional food heritage

YB Yeo praised the initiative for promoting and reshaping local food culture, encouraging the preservation of national culinary traditions. She also urged Brilliant Exhibition, the event’s organizer, to expand the EXPO to other states to further promote regional F&B innovation.
