A City-Wide Celebration During Chinese New Year!

Taking place from 13 to 15 February 2026, the KL Prosperity Festival returns on a larger scale, transforming Kuala Lumpur City Centre into a vibrant cultural hub during the Chinese New Year period. Initiated by BBKLCC Tourism, KL Society and Common Market, the festival is held in conjunction with the 5th edition of the KL Prosperity Walk, which first began in 2022.

Organised in alignment with Visit Malaysia 2026, and supported by Tourism Malaysia, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), TRX, MRT and TS Law Land, the festival is designed to strengthen Kuala Lumpur’s positioning as a leading regional cultural tourism destination.

Boosting Tourism Through Strategic City Activation

Chinese New Year is one of Asia’s peak travel seasons, and KL Prosperity Festival 2026 capitalises on this momentum by activating multiple iconic venues across the city centre. From Low Yat Plaza and Sungai Wang Plaza to Lot 10, Fahrenheit88, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Rain Tree Plaza at TRX, the coordinated programming encourages visitors to explore different districts, extending their stay and increasing city-wide engagement.

The multi-location approach directly benefits surrounding hotels, retailers, food and beverage operators, and public transport networks—creating meaningful economic spillover while delivering a festive, immersive experience.

Rain Tree Plaza as the Festival Hub

At the heart of the celebration is Rain Tree Plaza, TRX, where over 80 local entrepreneurs will participate in a curated artisan bazaar. Featuring food and beverages, lifestyle products and handcrafted goods, the bazaar highlights Malaysian creativity through a festive Chinese New Year lens infused with contemporary design.

Beyond retail, the platform offers direct engagement between visitors and local brands, reinforcing support for small businesses while allowing tourists to take home authentic Malaysian-made products.

The KL Prosperity Walk: A Multicultural Parade Through the City

A signature highlight of the festival, the KL Prosperity Walk, now in its 5th edition, will take place on 13 February 2026 from 8:00 PM onwards. The parade connects key commercial and cultural districts before culminating at Rain Tree Plaza, TRX.

Blending traditional Chinese New Year elements with broader Malaysian cultural expressions, the procession symbolises unity through diversity. The immersive, street-level celebration offers a uniquely Kuala Lumpur experience—one shaped by the city’s multicultural fabric and vibrant urban energy.

International Cultural Exchange: “瑞马呈祥”

An international highlight of the festival is the exclusive performance titled 《瑞马呈祥》, presented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China as part of the globally recognised “Happy Chinese New Year” cultural exchange programme.

Centred on the 2026 Year of the Horse, the performance carries themes of prosperity, harmony and abundance. Featuring traditional Chinese folk music, martial arts, dance and acrobatics, the showcase will be integrated with Malaysian artistic performances. Artists from both countries will share the stage, symbolising meaningful cross-cultural dialogue and strengthening international ties.

Encouraging Public Participation and Creative Expression

To deepen engagement, the festival will host a Photography Competition throughout the three-day event. Visitors are invited to capture moments from the celebrations and submit their entries for a chance to win prizes. The initiative not only enhances visitor participation but also amplifies the festival’s reach through social sharing and visual storytelling.

Strengthening Kuala Lumpur’s Cultural Identity

KL Prosperity Festival 2026 reflects Kuala Lumpur’s strength as a city where culture, commerce and community intersect. By combining local entrepreneurship, international collaboration and city-wide festivities, the initiative reinforces Malaysia’s image as a welcoming, multicultural destination.

Aligned with the broader ambitions of Visit Malaysia 2026, the festival positions Kuala Lumpur as a festive tourism capital in Southeast Asia—inviting visitors to celebrate, explore and experience the richness of Malaysia’s diversity in one dynamic urban setting.
