A Record-Breaking Showcase of Halal Excellence

From September 17-20, 2024, the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) will return to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, promising its largest edition yet. With over 40,000 visitors and more than 2,000 booths, MIHAS 2024 aims to strengthen its reputation as the world’s premier Halal trade fair. Hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), this event will provide an unmatched platform for exhibitors and visitors from around the globe.

A Global Platform for Halal Innovation

With participants from 66 countries, MIHAS 2024 highlights the international scope of the Halal industry. Countries such as China, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Thailand are among the leaders in global participation, showcasing the diverse range of Halal products and services. Exhibitors from every continent will converge to present the latest innovations and opportunities, making MIHAS a central hub for the global Halal market.

Yang Berhormat Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, praised MIHAS’ success since its inception in 2004, stating, “MIHAS has benefited nearly 17,000 Malaysian exporters and foreign buyers, generating close to RM25 billion in sales and attracting over 500,000 visitors.” This year, the event is expected to exceed RM3.5 billion in sales.

Breaking Records and Setting New Milestones

Recognised by Guinness World Records for attracting the largest attendance at a Halal trade show, MIHAS aims to break its 2023 record of 38,566 visitors. The event’s continued focus on innovation and sustainability reflects MATRADE’s commitment to shaping the future of the Halal industry. Following the success of its virtual MIHAS 2021, MATRADE received the 2022 WTPO award for “Best Use of Information Technology,” cementing MIHAS as a leader in leveraging technology for global engagement.

Honouring Halal Industry Leaders

A special highlight of MIHAS 2024 is the presentation of the Anugerah Khas Tokoh Pembangunan Halal Negara to Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the Halal industry. His dedication has inspired industry growth and laid a foundation for future leaders.

Strategic Opportunities for Business Growth

MIHAS 2024 is more than an exhibition; it’s a strategic platform for networking and growth. Key initiatives include the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), connecting 330 international buyers with 800 Malaysian sellers, targeting RM1.7 billion in sourcing value. Additionally, the Hosted Buyers Programme will facilitate connections between 50 local buyers and international exhibitors, ensuring impactful business transactions.

Yang Berbahagia Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE, shared that 250 pre-arranged business meetings will take place during the event, fostering robust opportunities for collaboration.

Knowledge Sharing and Industry Recognition

On September 19, MIHAS 2024 will host its Knowledge Hub session, where industry leaders will provide valuable insights in “Meet the Experts” sessions. The event will conclude with the MIHAS Awards, recognising excellence in categories such as the Excellence Products & Services Awards, Innovative Products & Services Awards, and the newly introduced Sustainability Award, reflecting the event’s emphasis on industry advancement and environmental responsibility.

Expanding MIHAS’ Global Reach

Looking ahead, MATRADE will launch MIHAS@Dubai at the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo in November 2024. With a sales target of RM1 billion, this initiative will feature over 200 booths across a 2,000 sqm pavilion, marking MIHAS’ expansion into the Middle Eastern market and beyond.

Shaping the Halal Economy’s Future

MIHAS 2024 is set to be a cornerstone event for the Halal sector, offering exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to explore cutting-edge developments and connect with industry leaders. By fostering innovation and expanding market access to regions like Latin America and Africa, MIHAS continues to shape the global Halal economy and reinforce Malaysia’s leadership in the industry.
