Pos Malaysia Celebrates World Post Day 2024: Strengthening Connections, Improving Lives

Pos Malaysia Berhad, the national post and parcel service provider, joined the global postal community in commemorating World Post Day. Celebrated annually on 9 October, the day marks the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and highlights the postal sector’s vital role in fostering communication, trade, and economic development worldwide.

This year’s theme, “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations,” set the tone for the celebration held at Pos Malaysia’s headquarters in the Dayabumi Complex. The event featured a powerful short film chronicling Pos Malaysia’s evolution over the centuries, emphasizing its commitment to transforming services, promoting sustainability, and connecting communities.

Honoring Heritage and Innovation

Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of Pos Malaysia, highlighted the company’s transition from a traditional postal service to a comprehensive logistics, aviation, and retail solutions provider. “This film pays homage to our long-standing heritage but, more importantly, reflects our evolving role in this digital era. Pos Malaysia is now a multi-faceted service provider dedicated to connecting people and businesses for a better tomorrow.”

Minister of Communications YB Fahmi Fadzil, along with Deputy Minister YB Teo Nie Ching, underscored the importance of postal services in Malaysia’s trade, economic development, and social connectivity. YB Fahmi praised Pos Malaysia for balancing tradition and innovation, emphasizing its critical role in supporting Malaysia's economy and fostering personal connections in the digital communication era.

Recognizing Excellence and Sustainability

During the ceremony, the Minister presented long-service awards to 16 employees who have served Pos Malaysia for 35 years or more. YB Fahmi also commended Pos Malaysia’s Pos Laju service, which earned a 4-star rating from the MyKurier programme and was recognized as the fastest and most reliable courier service provider by MCMC in 2023.

The event concluded with the unveiling of commemorative stamps to celebrate World Post Day. Priced at RM50.50, the limited edition set includes a stamp sheet, miniature sheet, and First Day Cover envelopes. These sets are available at Pos Malaysia Philatelic Bureaus and online at https://shop.pos.com.my while stocks last.

Driving a Sustainable Future

Reaffirming its sustainability efforts, Pos Malaysia’s leadership flagged off a new batch of electric vehicles (EVs). This milestone reflects the company’s commitment to greener logistics solutions. With over 1,000 electric bikes and 300 electric vans joining the fleet soon, Pos Malaysia aims to achieve 100% green delivery for first- and last-mile operations by 2030.

“Our EV fleet is the largest in Malaysia’s logistics sector. With 200 electric motorcycles and 143 electric vans already covering over 2.8 million kilometers, we are actively reducing emissions and making strides toward our Net Zero goal,” said Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar.

Community Engagement and Brand Campaign

Pos Malaysia also announced the promotion of its new brand film, which will be featured across social media, digital billboards, and other touchpoints starting 9 October 2024. To engage with customers, a series of in-store activities will take place at post offices nationwide from 16 October to 31 December, with limited edition merchandise available for those who conduct transactions during the campaign period.
