A Milestone for Malaysia’s Logistics Industry

Pos Malaysia Berhad has marked a historic moment for the nation’s logistics sector with the launch of Malaysia’s first-ever autonomous vehicle (AV). Announced in Kuala Lumpur on 21 January 2026, the initiative represents a major step in Pos Malaysia’s transformation into a digitally enabled, sustainability-driven logistics provider.

Strategic Collaboration to Drive Innovation

The launch was officiated in the presence of the Minister of Communications, YB Dato’ Fahmi Fadzil, and included the signing of a collaboration agreement between Pos Malaysia and Autonomous Logistic Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (ALS). The partnership brings together national logistics expertise and advanced autonomous technology to accelerate the adoption of smart, efficient delivery solutions in Malaysia.

Introducing Zelos: Fully Autonomous and Zero Emissions

At the heart of the initiative is Zelos, a fully driverless, 100% electric, zero-emission autonomous logistics vehicle designed for high-volume, point-to-point B2B deliveries. ALS, as the exclusive Malaysian partner, will localise and operationalise Zelos, enabling access to one of the world’s most commercially deployed autonomous logistics platforms, already operating at scale internationally.

Leadership Perspectives on the Future of Logistics

Pos Malaysia’s leadership described the initiative as a defining moment in the company’s transformation journey, highlighting its potential to improve operational efficiency, optimise delivery routes, and reduce environmental impact. ALS echoed this sentiment, noting that the deployment moves autonomous logistics beyond trials into real-world operations, setting a national precedent for wider industry adoption.

Powered by 5G and Digital Connectivity

The deployment is supported by 5G connectivity from Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), providing the ultra-reliable, high-performance network required for Level 4 autonomous operations. The collaboration aligns with Malaysia’s broader digital transformation and AI Nation ambitions, enabling advanced use cases across logistics and mobility.

Advancing Sustainability Through Smart Mobility

The introduction of autonomous electric vehicles strengthens Pos Malaysia’s Sustainability Roadmap, which focuses on decarbonisation and greener operations. With more than 1,500 electric motorcycles and vans already in operation—representing 25% of its fleet—Pos Malaysia continues to lead the logistics sector towards a cleaner and more energy-efficient future.

Paving the Way for Nationwide Adoption

As part of the initiative, Pos Malaysia and ALS will conduct a six-month Proof of Concept within live operational environments, working closely with regulators to ensure safety and compliance. The insights gained will support the development of scalable autonomous logistics solutions, positioning Malaysia for a smarter, more resilient logistics ecosystem in the years ahead.
