An Important Visit to Getha's Production Facilities!

On August 22, 2024, the Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities, YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) and the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC), visited Getha, a leading name in Malaysia's rubber industry. This official visit highlighted Malaysia's focus on enhancing its presence in the global rubber products market, with a particular emphasis on sustainability.

A Comprehensive Tour Showcasing Getha's Capabilities!

During the visit, YB Datuk Chan and his delegation were given an extensive tour of Getha’s state-of-the-art production facilities. The tour provided a detailed view of the entire manufacturing process, from the initial handling of raw materials to the final assembly of products. Spanning over 1 million square feet, Getha’s facilities are capable of producing an impressive 600 tons of raw latex per month, which translates to an annual output of 7,200 tons. This level of production requires tapping into approximately 10 million rubber trees every month.

Getha's Commitment to Sustainability!

Getha’s dedication to sustainability was evident throughout the tour, showcasing the company's leadership in eco-conscious manufacturing practices. From the start to the finish of their production chain, Getha has embedded sustainability at every step, setting a benchmark in the industry. Their commitment aligns with Malaysia’s broader goals of maintaining a strong position in the global rubber market while ensuring environmentally responsible operations.

Discussions on Improving Rubber Quality and Compliance!

During the visit, meaningful discussions took place between the Ministry officials and Getha’s management. Key topics included improving the quality of Malaysia's natural rubber through sustainable practices, enhancing rubber standards to meet international regulations, and ensuring compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). These discussions are crucial as they focus on the future direction of Malaysia’s rubber industry, particularly in terms of aligning with global standards.

Branding Malaysian Rubber for Global Markets!

Getha emphasized the importance of strong branding efforts to position Malaysian-made rubber products as the preferred choice in international markets. In regions like Europe and the United States, where sustainability and certifications are increasingly influencing consumer purchasing decisions, robust branding is essential. Getha’s proactive approach to branding and sustainability is a model for other companies in the industry.

Ministerial Support for Sustainable Initiatives!

YB Deputy Minister Datuk Chan commended Getha for its forward-thinking stance on sustainability, acknowledging that such initiatives are vital for the long-term competitiveness of Malaysian rubber products. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting industry efforts that align with global standards and consumer expectations. The visit marked a significant step in aligning the objectives of the rubber industry with national policies focused on sustainability.

A Future-Oriented Approach for Malaysia’s Rubber Industry!

The official visit to Getha underscores the growing emphasis on sustainability within Malaysia’s rubber industry. As the nation continues to strive for excellence in the global market, it is clear that the focus will remain on responsible, forward-thinking practices that not only meet but exceed international standards. With support from the Ministry and industry leaders like Getha, Malaysia is poised to lead in the global rubber market, setting the stage for a future where sustainability and quality go hand in hand.
