The future of green energy is here, and it's powered by Malaysian students! Sekolah Menengah Setiabudi, Kuala Lumpur has been crowned the Champion of the DIY Made Simple 2025 competition, triumphing over 273 entries from 116 schools nationwide!

Meet Huzz Buzz: The Waste-to-Energy Masterpiece

The winning team from Setiabudi KL impressed the judges with their phenomenal "Huzz Buzz" project: eco-tiles (ekojubin) that literally turn footsteps into electricity! These innovative kinetic energy tiles capture movement to generate and store power, which can then be used to run small devices or improve school facilities—a game-changing solution!

The competition's theme, 'Waste to Energy: Innovate for a Greener Future,' successfully encouraged students to dream up practical solutions for transforming solid waste into reusable energy.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

The organizers emphasized that the competition is more than just a prize giveaway; it's a vital platform for skill-building and shaping a sustainable future.

Zaleha Mohd Mydin, CEO of Yayasan MR D.I.Y., highlighted the platform’s impact: "DIY Made Simple is more than a competition - it is a platform that equips students with real-world skills and inspires young Malaysians to shape a sustainable future."

The success is also a testament to strong institutional collaboration. As Associate Prof. ChM Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Director of Universiti Malaya Community Engagement Centre, noted: "It is essential for universities, government and non-government agencies, and corporations to unite in championing initiatives that bring lasting value to the community."
