A Massive International Opening in KL

Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 officially kicked off at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, demonstrating significant international pull. The three-day event features an impressive 311 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions. Officiated by Faizal Mohd Yusof, Senior Director of MITI's Industrial Development Division, the exhibition aims to capitalize on Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and highlight the nation's increasing influence in regional automotive advancement.

Expanded Halls Showcase Diverse Automotive Culture

This year, the trade fair has expanded to occupy six halls, reflecting the growing interest and demand within Malaysia’s automotive sector. The display bridges the gap between the business-to-business (B2B) and consumer segments, showcasing a broad array of vehicles—from sought-after Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) models and classics to audio-modified cars. Leading domestic and international brands like Alienworld, EV Connection, Launch, TecAlliance, and YonMing Group are prominently featured, signaling a mature and dynamic industry.

Mastering the Energy Transition: Training for the Future

A critical component of the event is its focus on upskilling the workforce for the energy transition. The Collision Repair Training Workshop offers essential, hands-on learning for both traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and New Energy Vehicles (NEV). Sessions cover vital topics such as EV safety, high-voltage repair, and maintenance, alongside live spray-painting demonstrations. This practical training directly supports the government’s ambitious net-zero emissions agenda.

Policy and Partnership: Charting the Path to Sustainability

The opening day facilitated important industry dialogues at the Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference. Panel discussions delved into key areas shaping ASEAN's future of mobility, specifically energy transition, electrification, and digitalization. The consensus emphasized that sustainability is crucial not only for environmental impact but also for long-term economic viability, particularly as the region prepares for wider EV adoption and smarter transport systems.

Fostering Growth and Global Connections

Leaders reiterated the strategic importance of the event. Faizal Mohd Yusof (MITI) remarked, “Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 showcases Malaysia’s leadership in driving a sustainable automotive industry. By connecting local companies with global leaders, we’re fostering economic growth and a smarter, greener future for ASEAN.” Ms Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, proudly added that the fair is a "well-established trade fair with more than 20 years serving the market," acting as a crucial gateway between domestic and overseas markets.

Something for Everyone: From Trade to autoFEST@KL

Beyond the trade floor, the public-facing autoFEST@KL drew significant visitor attention. This showcase combined consumer interest with technological education, offering an accessible look at aftermarket innovations and customized vehicles. Additionally, the co-located event, Intelligent Manufacturing Kuala Lumpur, began exploring the challenges and benefits of digital transformation, focusing on strategic planning, software integration, and hardware deployment until May 16, 2025.
